OUR PLANS

Cavalier Health Fund plans to fund research projects led by board certified veterinary cardiologists, neurologists and ophthalmologists, and geneticists, such as the prevention or delay of congestive heart failure (CHF) in cavaliers with MVD and finding the hereditary basis for CM/SM in cavaliers. Initially, we are working on a project to study the efficacy of two specific, commonly available generic supplements for preventing or delaying and treating CHF in the breed.

OUR FOCUS

Cavalier Health Fund is a 501(c)(3) charitable trust created to fund sound scientific research that will help cavalier King Charles spaniels (CKCS) live longer, healthier lives. Our grants will be limited to research projects into the origins of cavaliers' illnesses, the diagnosis of cavaliers' diseases, and the development of effective treatments of cavaliers' diseases and prevention strategies. Our focus is exclusively upon disorders which affect the CKCS, such as mitral valve disease (MVD), Chiari-like malformation (CM), syringomyelia (SM), primary secretory otitis media (PSOM), progressive deafness, and eye disorders. 100% of contributed funds are paid as grants to research projects.
