About Us -- Cavalier Health Fund
The Cavalier Health Fund is a charitable trust which is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the Cavalier Health Fund therefore are tax-deductible.
The Cavalier Health Fund's mission is to advance the health of cavalier King Charles spaniels by funding sound scientific research and supporting the dissemination of health information to prevent, treat, and cure cavaliers’ genetic diseases, especially mitral valve disease (MVD) and Chiari-like malformation / syringomyelia (CM/SM), the two most pervasive and devastating genetic disorders in the CKCS breed.
Since 2004, Cavalier Health Fund's informational website, www.cavalierhealth.org, has been providing the Internet user with access to factual information about these major health disorders afflicting the cavalier, as well as primary secretory otitis media (PSOM), progressive deafness, hip dysplasia (HD), luxating patellas (knees), retinal dysplasia, and other debilitating and/or painful disorders to which the cavalier breed is predisposed.
